According to many experts, children can usually sleep on any sleeping surface. But this does not mean that you are going to take for granted their sleep comforts. Bear in mind that having a long and comfortable sleep is what they need in order for their brain and body to properly develop.
This is why you need to be a bit discriminating in choosing. To help you make the right decisions, the following are some tips on how to choose a safe mattress for your children:
Organic Latex Mattress
Tip 1: Consider what mattress size fits their frame well. When they need to toss and turn, you should allow more mattress space for them to do so. You should also find the perfect bed frame for it so the mattress is not too big or too small for the bed frame. The bottom line is, they should have more room to groove and that you should minimize the risk of them falling off the bed.
Tip 2: Choose what comfortable mattress is good for them. Like what I said earlier, kids can generally sleep on any surface. However, make sure you choose the right mattress with a good amount of spring count. 150 springs or coils are good enough to provide a sturdy back support. Should you purchase the orthopaedic beds such as memory foams? That is up to you but personally, they won't be able to appreciate it. They might hate it though because memory foams are usually very firm.
Tip 3: Buy organic mattresses. If your kid has chemical allergies, you should consider purchasing those beds incorporated with only natural ingredients. They should contain ingredients that will help reduce the chances of allergy formation. Latex beds, although quite expensive, are really good for the health since the ingredients are from natural sources.
Tip 4: Consider purchasing mattress protectors. Mattress protectors are zipped around the bed. These are ideal for children just in case they will wet their bed. It protects the mattress and prevents the formation of molds and bacteria.
Tip 5: If you are going to purchase a latex bed, you might want to pick one with zero protein content in it. Some people are allergic to latex and the protein incorporated in it is what triggers the allergy formation. Find out from the manufacturing company if they have removed the protein in the latex. This way, you can really enhance the comfort your child is experiencing.
